piggyback service

piggyback service
A distribution service in which loaded truck trailers, or other sealed containers, are carried by rail to destinations from which they can be taken by truck to their final destination. Similar services are fishyback service, involving transport of containers by water, and birdyback service, involving transport of containers by air.
